Keio's application
I got my initial nomination from MIX in July, which informed me that I would be going to Keio. The next email I received from MIX regarding study abroad was in the beginning of August. This email let me know that I could start doing my Keio application.
The application firstly requires you to create a login and password. You may only fill out the application once you get the nomination from your home university. I turned in my application in 2019, so, the following are a list of additional documents you need for your app:
- Study proposal - This is a word document that you need to fill out with courses you plan to take while studying abroad. You also talk about your study goals and purpose for your time at Keio.
- One recommendation letter - Something to note is that this CANNOT be the same person as your MIX application. The school also requires this person has to be able to comment on your academic ability in the last 3 months.
- Official transcripts - Again, this must be issued within 3 months of your submission. For me, I did take a few classes at a community college, however, I only submitted my Manoa transcript and it was okay.
- Passport - Photocopy your personal information part of your passport
- Certificate of Health - This needs to be done by your physician!
- Certificate of Financial Support - You can look at instructions on this site and select the respective information from whichever resource you will be supported financially by.
- Application for Certificate of Eligibility - Non-resident students studying in Japan need to fill out this form so that they may eventually apply for a student visa.
- Photo - There are a few requirements for the picture you must submit. Here are the specific instructions if you are interested in looking at it.
The application was due for me on October 4, 2019 (JAPAN TIME!). Which meant I needed to submit the application on the 2nd or 3rd. Japan is super strict on deadlines, so ensure that you get things done ASAP. Also, once I submitted the application, I would need to provide the outbound coordinator with a PDF of it (which was super easy to download because Keio allows you to download your whole application at the end).
